One of my earliest memories is of my mom teaching me to read form "Dick, Jane and Sally" I've been off and running since then. Books are a bit of a passion for me. I wish I had the imagination and talent to write them, but I'll have to be satisfied with simply enjoying them, and that I do well.
I truly believe that a love of reading and learning has to start early, and needs to be constantly fostered. There are so many books out there that are wonderful for the different levels of cognition and interest in all ages. I hope to make my way through as many as I can get my hands on, and find a few gems to pass on to you and my future children. If you have a book you've newly discovered, or have loved for years, for any age level from toddler to adult, please let me kno what it is you like about it. Give it a great review. I'll post it here and probably even read it for myself. Books are designed to be shared, and this is a great place to do it! Let me know your favorites!

For toddler age (1yr to 3) My nephews seem to like the Brown Bear series. They are rather repetitive, but it works for that age. Andrew and Caleb love to point out the various animals and make the appropriate sounds as we read the book. I believe it helps develop the cognitive recognition, as they can point out the red bird, even if they can't quite verbalize it yet. Do you have abook that your toddler loves? What is it, and what do you like about it?

Reading can be fun!
When is "too soon" to begin emphasizing literacy for your kids? How do you do this in away that is age-appropriate and fun? Some children just seem to be naturally inclined toward reading and stories, while others may need an extra bit of encouragement. I believe a love of reading and learning has to start early, and can come in many forms. Those of you with children, how did and do you encourage and excitement for books and learning? Any thoughts? I'd love to hear you ideas and great finds!
